We are excited to welcome Carrie Marvin to The Bailey Group team as an Account Research Coordinator (soon to be Account Executive).
Take a moment to get to know Carrie in her own words.
Before The Bailey Group
As a Junior in high school, I was awarded a scholarship to attend summer school at Harvard University during the summer before my Senior year. After graduating high school, I joined the US Air Force and repaired aircraft for about 8 years. I chose to pursue a degree where I could use my mechanical ability which led to various roles where I learned how to manufacture windows, hose clamps, aircraft ignition systems, and adult beverages. Years later, I went back to school to earn my MBA from University of North Florida.
After the Air Force, I landed a position at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) where my experience transferred into managing their work order system and other processes in the Facilities Department. I am grateful I was able to learn American Sign Language while working at the FSDB. St. Augustine has a large population of Deaf people and I find it rewarding to be able to have conversations in sign language when I’m around town.
Discovering The Bailey Group
I first heard about The Bailey Group from Becky Cromwell. From the beginning, she loved the job and her role. I thought the honeymoon would be over within a year. But, I kept seeing her every once in a while, and years later, she still loved her job. So, I thought, “I need to get in on this!”
The most appealing thing is that I get to use my analytical skills and abilities to solve problems. The part that’s even better is that The Bailey Group doesn’t just “take” from its employees, it provides a great environment and offers many great incentives in return for a job well done.
Outside of The Bailey Group
I love to sew! I sew anything that appeals to me. If I think I can do it, I just start sewing, google it, ask a friend, or find a pattern to figure it out.
The most popular thing I sew is “T-shirt Quilts.” I take piles of sentimental t-shirts and turn them into useful blankets that people can enjoy.
I also love to travel. I am very fortunate to have visited many countries while in the military and after. My portfolio includes: Italy, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Germany, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, China, India, South Korea, and more.
It wasn’t until much later in life, I discovered the magic of Disney, so I also enjoy the Disney Parks and Hotels as frequently as possible.
