Florida Health Insurance Marketplace Opens, Asks You to “Please Wait”

The Health Insurance Marketplace is off to a buggy, delay filled start. Let’s be honest though – we were all expecting this. No matter how much beta testing a website does, you can never be ready for the type of traffic an event like this can demand. According to HealthCare.gov’s twitter feed:
1 million visit http://t.co/1MVLQtMu72 in last day. 5x more users than ever on http://t.co/G8rdIA8NlD at once. Millions want to #GetCovered

I’ve been trying to log in to the marketplace to apply for coverage all day and I keep getting the same two errors. Most of the time I am told to “Please wait. We have a lot of visitors on our site right now and we’re working to make your experience here better. Please wait here until we send you to the login page.” After waiting on that screen for about 10 minutes, I’m finally given access to the account creation section.
There, I’m able to get as far as the security questions before things get weird. You’re supposed to set 3 security questions for your account before being able to finalize the creation process, but each of the 3 security question boxes are empty. You can type in 3 random answers and hit submit, but that is followed up with another error: “Your account cannot be created at this time. The system is unavailable.”
I would imagine that by the end of the week all of bugs will be ironed out and today with be an afterthought. Until then however, we’ll just have to be patient.
